Birdwood Guitars is located in New South Wales’ beautiful Blue Mountains. We have been building cigar box guitars, solid body guitars and effect pedals since 2014 and have sold instruments to clients all over the world. Take advantage of the currently low Aussie dollar and enticing shipping prices to snag yourself a one of a kind instrument that you won’t want to put down.
We use a mixture of reclaimed timbers and plantation timbers to handmake every instrument. There are no CNC machines or robots here! Birdwood Guitars uses a mix of reclaimed and plantation timbers to build out solid body guitars and CBG necks. We use genuine cigar boxes and handmade boxes on our instruments. All guitars with handmade bodies are referred to as ‘CBGs’, while we refer to genuine cigar box instruments as ‘cigar box guitars’.
You may also see us refer to instruments as ‘traditional’ or ‘modern’, this will usually refer to the type of bridge that we have opted for. Traditional bridges are usually timber and float on the top of the box while ‘modern’ bridges are metal and are bolted to the top of the box. Both styles sound fantastic, it’s really just a personal thing.
Cigar box guitars are usually set up with two types of pickups; electric and electro/acoustic. Electric guitar pickups are generally considered to be better for loud music where distortion is used and electro/acoustic pickups faithfully replicate the acoustic properties of the instrument.
All Birdwood Guitars instruments are backed by our ‘Fair Wear’,(limited) lifetime guarantee.
